  • Deductions under Chapter VI-A, such as:

2. Section 80CCC: Contributions to pension funds

3. Section 80CCD(1): Employee's contribution to a pension scheme

4. Section 80CCD(1B): Self-contribution to a notified pension scheme

5. Section 80CCD(2): Employer's contribution to a pension scheme

6. Section 80D: Health insurance premiums

7. Section 80E: Interest on loan for higher education

8. Section 80G: Donations

9. Section 80TTA: Interest on savings accounts

  • Tax calculated, surcharge, education and health cess, and relief under Section 89

What is the Eligibility Criteria for Form 16?

According to rules issued by the Indian Government's Finance Ministry, every salaried individual whose earnings fall under the taxable bracket is qualified for Form 16. Suppose an employee's income does not fall within the taxable bracket. In that case, TDS will not be deducted, and the employer is not obligated to provide Form 16. However, many organizations issue Form 16 as a best practice, offering a consolidated picture of an employee's earnings and other uses.

  • Visit the TRACES website: Go to the official TRACES website.
  • Login/Register: Enter your PAN card number (User ID) and password to log in. New users must complete the registration process.
  • Navigate to Downloads: Click on the 'Downloads' tab and select 'Form 16.'
  • Select Form Type and Financial Year: Choose the appropriate Form type and the financial year for which Form 16 is required.
  • Verify Details: Verify PAN and other necessary details.
  • Enter TDS Receipt Number: Provide the TDS receipt number. Select the date of the TDS.
  • Total tax Deducted: Add the total tax collected and deducted.
  • Submit Request: Click on submit to request the download.
  • Download Form 16: Once the form is available, download it from the 'Downloads' tab.
